Home/Italian conversation classes
You read Italian fine. You follow most of what you hear. Then someone asks you something and everything you know disappears. That gap is what these lessons are for.
Book a free callPassive Italian and active Italian are two different skills, and most learners end up with far more of the first than the second. You have spent years reading, listening and studying, all of it in your head, at your own pace, with a pause button. Speaking has none of that. It happens now, in front of someone, and it is unforgiving of the half-second you need to conjugate a verb.
The only fix is volume. Not more grammar, not more vocabulary lists, more hours of your own voice making Italian sentences while someone who knows the language stops you when it goes wrong.
Fluency is not knowing every word. It is being comfortable not knowing a word and continuing anyway.
Self-taught speakers develop errors that have hardened into habit: a wrong preposition, a subjunctive that never appears, the English word order that Italians understand but flinch at. Nobody in casual conversation will correct you, because you are being understood. A teacher will, gently, every time, until it changes.
There is also everything a textbook cannot teach you: what Italians say instead of what they are supposed to say, which polite forms sound stiff, when allora and magari and dai are doing real work in a sentence. Our teachers all live in Italy, so what you get is current, not the Italian of a 1990s course book.
Conversation classes work best from a solid A2 upwards: you know the main tenses, you have a few hundred words, you can build a simple sentence given time. Below that, the lesson turns into teaching rather than talking, and our beginner path is the better place to start. Not sure which you are? The free consultation is partly for working that out.
Anything not covered here, ask us directly. There is nothing to sign.
Ask usA solid A2 or above: main tenses, a few hundred words, able to build simple sentences with a little thinking time. If you are below that we will suggest the beginner path first and say so honestly.
No, and that is deliberate. Constant interruption kills fluency. Your teacher collects errors while you speak and works through the important ones at the end, then sends them to you in writing.
That is the whole idea. Bring your work, your hobbies, the region you are travelling to, the film you just watched. Motivation is a language skill and talking about things you care about is the cheapest way to get it.
Yes. Italian pronunciation is regular, so most accent problems come from a handful of habits: double consonants, stress placement, and the vowels. Those are fixable at any age with targeted work.
Twenty minutes, no obligation. We talk about your level and your reasons, then match you with the right teacher and map out your path together.
