Home/Italian lessons for couples
Two people, one teacher, and the enormous advantage of having someone to practise with at breakfast.
Book a free callThe biggest single reason adults stall in a language is that the only Italian they ever speak happens in the lesson. Sixty minutes a week is not enough to build a reflex. Couples get around this almost by accident: you can name things in the kitchen, argue about pronunciation in the car, run through the numbers while walking, and text each other in bad Italian all week.
There is also a quieter effect. Two people who have committed together are markedly less likely to quietly stop after week six, which is where solo learners most often disappear.
You almost never are. One of you did Latin at school, or has the better ear, or simply has more time this month. Handled badly this ends with the faster partner answering every question and the other going silent, which is the failure mode of every group class ever run.
So we handle it deliberately:
The couple who can order dinner between them, badly, in Italian, has a better evening than the couple who cannot.
A trip, most often, and a specific one: an anniversary in Tuscany, three weeks driving Sicily, a long-promised return to the village a grandfather left. That is Italian for travel, taught to two people at once, built around the actual route.
Then relocation and retirement, where both partners will need the practical language of setting up a life in Italy, and where arriving with only one Italian speaker in the house puts an unfair load on that person for years.
And sometimes one partner is Italian, or has Italian family, and the other is learning to be included at the table. Those lessons are among the most rewarding we teach.
Lessons run on a single video call, so you can sit together or join separately from two places. Pricing for two is lower per person than two individual courses, and we agree it on the free consultation once we know how often you want to meet. Three or more people is possible for a family, but past three the speaking time per person starts to suffer and we will tell you so.
Anything not covered here, ask us directly. There is nothing to sign.
Ask usNo, it is the normal case. Your teacher balances speaking time deliberately, sets different tasks within the same topic, and gives individual homework. If the gap grows, a few solo lessons for one partner closes it.
Yes, the per-person cost is lower. The exact figure depends on frequency and lesson length, and we agree it together on the free consultation.
Yes. It is a single video call, so you can sit together or dial in separately if one of you travels.
A family of three works. Beyond that, individual speaking time drops enough to slow everyone down, and we would rather split you into two groups than let that happen.
Twenty minutes, no obligation. We talk about your level and your reasons, then match you with the right teacher and map out your path together.
